This summer, well let’s be real, 2016 has been very busy and very indulgent. I am probably having more fun that I have ever had in my life. Every aspect of my life is going well, and I’m soaking it all in. The theme for 2016 so far has been “yes!” Skip working out for happy hour- sure! Sunday night at music in the park (instead of my usual routine of going to bed when it’s still light out)- you bet! One more episode of Shameless before bed- duh!
The unfortunate side of all this is that I don’t feel great. I’m big on self-care and while I’ve been nurturing the shit out of my soul, my body is suffering a little. And I’m not talking about vanity pounds, I’m talking about feeling physically worn down. If it was just a looks thing, I would deal, but it’s not. Oh, getting older.
Anyway, I’ve made a routine that I call “the weekday detox.” I follow this little detox plan Monday through Friday (or until happy hour on Friday) and it really rejuvenates me between the indulgent weekends. Everyone is different and there is no one size fits all approach but I’m sharing this not advising you to follow it exactly, but to adjust based on what makes you feel good.
